It’s a rare midweek episode of the In the News podcast! But this is a rare week—Apple’s WWDC conference—so there was too much to discuss to make you wait until Friday for this week’s episode. Brett Burney and I start this week’s episode by discussing the numerous ways iOS 27 and similar updates for Apple’s other devices coming in September will provide small but welcome improvements across the platforms. Do any of these improvements qualify as tentpole features that will revolutionize how you use your iPhone? No. But will they improve your day-to-day experience? Absolutely.
Next, we discuss Apple’s announcements in the area of trust and safety, including improved parental controls, enhancements to Apple’s Passwords app, and more.
We spend the rest of the episode focusing on the big announcements concerning Apple Intelligence and Siri. Now that Brett and I have thought more deeply about these enhancements and studied others’ commentaries, we have a lot to say about how these changes could vastly improve the way you use your iPhone and other devices.
Instead of ending the podcast with a traditional In the Know segment, we discuss the numerous videos that were released on the Apple Developer YouTube channel at the end of the day on Monday, with a focus on one very special one.
