Apparently, a lot of folks were excited about the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. As reported by Katie Benner of the New York Times this week, during the first weekend that the new iPhones were available, Apple sold 13 million of them. A year ago, Apple sold 10 million during the opening weekend of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. I've really enjoyed using my new iPhone 6s this week, especially the 3D Touch and the improved speed. And now, the news of note from the past week:
- California attorney David Sparks reviews Billings Pro 2 for iOS, an app that you can use to record your time.
- Sparks also reviews the iPhone 6s Plus.
- Sparks also reviews Carrot, a weather app with a sense of humor.
- New York attorney Nicole Black writes about the use of an Apple Watch in the practice of law in an article for Above the Law.
- The folks at First Site Guide put together a list a law blogs worth reading. It's actually a very good list, although perhaps I am biased since iPhone J.D is on the list.
- If you are thinking about getting an iPhone 6s, I posted my own review earlier this week, but one of the best reviews that I have seen is the one that Jason Snell wrote for Macworld.
- Apple released iOS 9.0.2 this week to fix a few bugs.
- Jeff Carlton wrote a detailed article for iMore explaining all of the features of the Home screen and the Lock screen on an iPhone 6s. Much of his article also applies to other iPhones running iOS 9.
- Lisa Bettany, a photographer who also co-created the excellent Camera+ app, compares the cameras on every one of the iPhones ever sold. It is interesting to see the improvements over time.
- Dan Moren of Six Colors provides some great tips for using Siri in iOS 9. For example, if you have Hey Siri turned on but you want to stop Siri from listening to you for a little while, just put your iPhone face down on a desk, and Siri will cover her virtual ears.
- Marco Tabini reviews the latest version of 1Password in a Macworld article.
- And finally, Zach Straley claims that the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are both somewhat waterproof. Here is his video proof. I have not tested this with my own iPhone 6s, nor should you do so, but it appears that something about the new iPhones is doing a better job standing up to water. Interesting:
