iOS 4.2 available today

Apple logo 48 The latest version of the iOS operating system for both the iPhone and iPad will be available this morning.  I'll post my thoughts after I have had a chance to try it out.  It is a big update for the iPad, bringing folders, the ability to run apps in the background and major improvements to the Mail app.  For both platforms, it adds features such as AirPlay (the ability to send video or audio from your iPhone or iPad to an AppleTV) and AirPrint (the ability to print, although right now it only works with a very small number of printers).  And as Jason Snell of Macworld reports, the Find my iPhone feature that used to be one of the biggest advantages of paying for the $99 MobileMe service is now free if you have an iPad, an iPhone 4 or the latest version of the iPod touch.
