About a year ago, I posted a survey of the time tracking apps that existed at that time. Many of those apps have been improved greatly over the last year and several new apps have been released. I myself have never felt a need to track my time or expenses on my iPhone, so I don’t have any first hand experience with these apps, but I do try to keep tabs on what is out there because people ask me about them from time to time.
One question I have received quite a few times is whether there is an iPhone time tracking app that syncs with Timeslips, a popular Windows product used by many law firms. This past Friday, a new iPhone app was released that tracks time and expenses and it is the first app that syncs with Timeslips. The app is called iSlips. In addition to syncing with Timeslips, this looks like a very capable iPhone app in its own right. Here is a video provided by the developer which provides an overview of the app:
At $49.99, this is one of the more expensive time and expense billing apps for the iPhone, but it looks like an app that might fit a need for many attorneys so I wanted to mention it here. If you try this app, I would love to hear how it works for you, including how well you find that it integrates with Timeslips.

Having used timeslips for several years and absolutely hating it, I’m hoping that I can get my firm to pick this up for me. I work on my mac at the office, and only switch to windows for Timeslips. I’m going to wait and read some reviews first.
I have tried Timeslips several times and continue to hate it. For one thing I have to run it on Parallels because it is Windows-only, but then so are most timekeeping and billing programs. The best solution I have found so far is Billings — it’s written for Mac, very intuitive and beautiful interface, and there’s a companion iPhone app that syncs with the desktop program.
I’ve been using Timereporter for Timeslips for years on the Palm and absolutely love it because of all the recovered time and simple synching. It paid for itself and the Timeslips software in about a week because of all the time entries I would have never billed (phone calls on the road, etc.)
islips looks just like what I need for on the road time accounting. Just want to make sure it will synch with Timeslips 2011. Please advise. Gene
I am running TimeSlips 2011 under Parallels on a Mac system. Just loaded iSlips, and in about 15 mins was up and running. Data syncs across quickly from iPad and iPhone. Very impressed so far.
There are many alternative products. I am using Time and Expense Center for iphone and it is pretty much straight forward product with a very clean interface, look like an app made by apple
